This worked perfectly for me, and did not delete any of the designs I had already downloaded (both paid and unpaid) from the store. select "restore standard designs" (my machine actually said "restore the initial 51 designs") go to "file" (if on a pc) or "silhouette studio" (if on a mac) once it is detected (it will show a green "ready" status) do the following:

check that the machine is recognised with the Studio (to do this click the "send to silhouette" button, even on a blank page, it will tell you if it detects your machine, and if not how to sort that out) ensure that your Silhouette machine is turned on and plugged in to your pc They came back with the most useful response ever, I was really chuffed with how fast they responded too. I ended up emailing the Silhouette support team because none of the above suggestions for getting my original designs worked for me. I tried typing in "original 50", "50 free" and just "free" into the Silhouette Online Store and managed to find 38 free designs. After I did that it recognized it and then offered to install the free 50. When I went to cut my first project it said not found and suggested turning it on and off. Turns out, my Design Studio had not yet recognized my Cameo. I also went to the silhouetteonlinestore website and did a search for the words: 40 Original and found 40 more FREE files to add to my library. I closed the Silhouette software and reopened it, and upon reopening, it installed the 50 free files that came with my machine. I'm new to Silhouette, and this happened to me while after following all the instructions and installing everything, I didn't see my 50 free files.
